Authority:
To give orders and instructions to officers, ratings and other persons on board in pursuance of his duties. Deputizing for the Master if he is absent, or if he is unable to perform due to accident or illness.
Responsible for a healthy work environment and the operational readiness and maintenance of all LSA and FSS on board - in all departments.
In Details:
Responsible for accident prevention
Monitoring the condition of safety equipment
Designing and preparing of drills and exercises in close cooperation with the master
Reporting of any non-compliance against national, international and company standards concerning ship safety and maritime environment protection
Responsible for the safety documentation
To give orders and instructions to officers, ratings and other persons on board in pursuance of his duties.
Qualifications:
STCW95 Reg. II/2, Reg. IV/2, valid health certificate, medical care, GMDSS GOC, SSO, HAZMAT employee, all certificates STCW95 as applicable.
Flag State endorsement for required certification for particular rank as per vessels Flag regulations
Additional certifications required for specific type of vessel and particular rank as per employer/charterer requirements
Additional certification required by charterers which is subject to change, depending on the trading area and type of vessels operation
Vaccination depending of vessels trading area.

If, in the professional judgment of the Master, a conflict between any safety and security requirements applicable to the ship arises during its operations, the Master shall give effect to those requirements necessary to maintain the safety of the ship.
