The company has been appointed as the responsible operator for a certain vessel by means of a so called ISM 3.1 Bridge-Letter.
In this Bridge-Letter, the owner of the ship appoint the company and inform the applicable Flag State. The company confirms its responsibility to the applicable Flag State also. Both letters together form the "ISM 3.1 Bridge-Letter".
In this document, the companies 24hrs contact details and the names of the DPA/CSO's and the deputy are listed.
Hence, the company is fully responsible for the safe operation of the ship. This includes but is not limited to crewing, provisioning, providing external services and technical assistance.
The "Bridge-Letter" (or ISM Notification) documenting this constellation must be available on board.
